The San Marino boys basketball team earned an at large bid in the CIF Division IV AA playoffs. They will open the tournament against Pomona High School at 7 pm on Wednesday, February 12. Congratulations to three Titan athletes on signing their National Letter of Intents today. Kali Villaluna will swim at the University of San Diego. Kourosh Hassibi will play football at the University of Chicago. Carver Weirick will play volleyball at Stevens Institute of Technology. We are proud of these three Titans.
Congratulations to Seth Matzumoto on being named to the All CIF Division 10 team. Seth was voted Rio Hondo League Defensive Player of the Year and was a leader at linebacker throughout the year for the Titans.
On January 25, three Titan wrestlers attended the Esperanza Tournament @ Esperanza High School. All of our girls placed in their respective weight classes. Ally Arrington, advanced to the finals and placed in second. Tilly Garcia went 4-1 for the day, placing her 3rd. Hanna Collanzo, who started wrestling this year, placed an impressive 4th
San Marino concluded their 2020 Rio Hondo League schedule by defeating Hoover. With the win, the Titans conclude RHL play with a 3-1 record. Many thanks to the senior wrestlers for their commitment to the program.
Girls soccer won both games over the break over Alhambra and St. Anthony’s to improve to 4-2-2. Boys basketball finished in 4th Place in the Tri City Christian Tournament. In wrestling, congratulations to Luka Wick who took third in the Reno Tournament of Champions and achieved All American Status. Boys soccer (2-4) dropped two tough close matches to Poly and LaSalle this week. Girls soccer defeated Montebello. Their record is now 2-2-2. Boys basketball (6-2) defeated El Rancho and Pilibos in the Poly Tournament
Anessa Lee defeated Cassie Wooten (Chadwick) to win the CIF Girls Individual Championship. After trailing 6-2, Anessa rattled off 12 consecutive games to win the last two sets 6-0, 6-0. The Vanderbilt signees becomes the third Titan to win the highly coveted CIF Girls Singles Championship.
